The primary mission of Central High School’s College & Career Center is to provide a comprehensive resource center for all students and families, to offer college & career resources and to assist with post-high school planning in an atmosphere where EVERY student feels welcome.
Summer Construction Program What?: Learn construction-related skills through classroom presentation and structured lab time. Students will participate in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home, visit trade unions, and explore post-secondary opportunities, including how to apply for a Trade Union apprenticeship. Upon Completion, students will earn: 1) OSHA-10 safety certification 2) $500 educational stipend 3) High school credit Where?: Champaign Central H.S. Students are required to show an SAT score report at the time of registration. - The course is $350 and will take place during lunch and on late start Wednesdays at each high school to a limited number of students. - The course includes one practice SAT test that is used to determine what each students will need to achieve success on the SAT. - Students generally attend 3 classes per week at their home school. - Only 20 students weill be in each of the 2 classes (at each school) in order to provide as much individualized attention as possible. - Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis with 15 paid spaces for each class and 5 spaces reserved for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. - Registration forms and payment must be submitted at the same time to the main office of each school, and proof of a qualifying score must be demonstrated. - Students interested in the 5 free spaces must submit the scholarship application to their high school principal. - The District has a limited number of scholarships available for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. Scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate they have the highest levels of motivation and commitment to maximizing the effect this course can have on both their SAT scores and their academic futrures.
