CHAT stands for Carle Health Advocacy Team. It is a program targeted to high school students who are interested in planning on pursuing a career as a health professional. Our mission is to educate students on different health topics and different career paths in the medical/health field as well offer some workplace readiness and leadership skills.
What do we do?
- Bring in various speakers that include doctors, nurses, therapists, and other health professionals
- Introduce students to the different medical technology that the professionals work with (e.g. Da Vinci Robot)
- Learn basic medical skills and provide them with other hands on learning experiences
When/Where are the meetings?
There are 8 meetings total throughout the year that are usually held later in the evenings. The meetings take place at Carle Hospital. We also provide food at each meeting!
If you have any student that is interested in pursuing a medical or health related profession please feel free to forward them this information. This is a program that provides great opportunities and is open to any high school student! The first meeting will take place sometime in mid-September.
